| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Freeport Noon Rotary | ||||||
| 4 | Club on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Freeport Noon Rotary Club was organized on | ||||||
| 6 | November 4, 1918 and admitted into Rotary International on | ||||||
| 7 | January 1, 1919; the club
became number 437 in District 6420, | ||||||
| 8 | bounded by the Mississippi River and the Wisconsin border; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Rotary International is an organization of | ||||||
| 10 | business and professional persons united
worldwide who provide | ||||||
| 11 | humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in
all | ||||||
| 12 | vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world; | ||||||
| 13 | there are over 1.2 million Rotarians belonging to more than | ||||||
| 14 | 30,000 Rotary clubs in 166
countries; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Over its 100 years of existence, the Freeport Noon | ||||||
| 16 | Rotary Club has been active and supportive in its community; it | ||||||
| 17 | has supported organizations, including the Boy Scouts, | ||||||
| 18 | Freeport Little League, Freeport Youth Ball, and the Freeport | ||||||
| 19 | High School Concert Choir; it has provided scholarships to | ||||||
| 20 | local high school and college students and clothing to | ||||||
| 21 | disadvantaged youth; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, In addition to supporting extensive Rotary-based | ||||||
| 2 | activities like the Interact Club at Aquin High School, the | ||||||
| 3 | Rotaract Club at Malcolm Eaton Enterprises and the | ||||||
| 4 | International Student Exchange, the Freeport Noon Rotary Club | ||||||
| 5 | also contributes to international issues such as water, | ||||||
| 6 | literacy, and polio eradication programs; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 8 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 9 | congratulate the Freeport Noon Rotary Club on its 100th | ||||||
| 10 | anniversary, and we wish them many more wonderful years; and be | ||||||
| 11 | it further
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 13 | presented to the Freeport Noon Rotary Club as a symbol of our | ||||||
| 14 | respect and esteem.
