HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, As leader of the most powerful nation in the world
3the President of the United States must possess the physical
4and mental stability to properly serve and lead the greatest
5nation on earth; and
6 WHEREAS, The president should be able to respond to
7opposition with dignity and composure worthy of the office; the
8president should not resort to insulting and name-calling those
9who disagree with him or her; and
10 WHEREAS, The safety of the American people should at all
11times be top priority; the president should not impulsively
12threaten nuclear retaliation against our enemies, especially
13on social media; and
14 WHEREAS, The president should always conduct his or her
15self with the highest professional and personal standards; he
16or she should not crudely boast about grabbing the genitals of
17another human being, refer to members of and veterans of our
18military as weak for experiencing post-traumatic stress
19disorder, or openly mock those with disabilities; and
20 WHEREAS, America is meant to be a beacon of hope and
21opportunity for those seeking a better life; the president

1should not refer to immigrants and to other countries in
2derogatory terms which only serves to weaken our international
3relationships; and
4 WHEREAS, The president should take a strong and clear
5stance against racism and discrimination of any kind; he or she
6should not sympathize with white nationalists or any other
7group or ideology that attempts to devalue and degrade the
8lives of millions of American citizens; and
9 WHEREAS, Before voting for the highest office in the land
10Americans have a right to know whether an individual has the
11physical and mental fitness to serve as President of the United
12States; therefore, be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that the
15American people deserve to know they have a leader with the
16physical and mental stamina necessary to effectively and
17honorably serve as President of the United States; and be it
18further
19 RESOLVED, That to preserve the integrity of the office of
20President of the United States all presidential nominees should
21be required to undergo a standardized medical examination
22including a mental health evaluation, and to publicly disclose

1the results before the election; and be it further
2 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
3delivered Governor Rauner, President Donald Trump, U.S. Senate
4Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, U.S. Minority Leader Chuck
5Schumer, U.S. Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, U.S. House of
6Representatives Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and all members
7of the Illinois Congressional Delegation.
