| 2 | WHEREAS, In 1948, Frank and Florine Saputo started a | ||||||
| 3 | Springfield tradition of serving fine Italian food; the Capital | ||||||
| 4 | City and the Illinois House of Representatives are proud of the | ||||||
| 5 | restaurant's heritage where they serve old world family recipes | ||||||
| 6 | and maintain a standard of quality and excellence in both food | ||||||
| 7 | and service; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Mike and Sandy (Saputo) Coffey have helped make | ||||||
| 9 | downtown Springfield a popular destination for everyone from | ||||||
| 10 | Illinoisans to foreign travelers; the second generation of the | ||||||
| 11 | Saputo family opened a second restaurant at the end of East | ||||||
| 12 | Monroe at an intersection known at the time as Twin's Corner; | ||||||
| 13 | and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Saputo's specializes in Italian food with recipes | ||||||
| 15 | greatly influenced by the cuisine of southern Italy; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, According to food critics, Saputo's serves some of | ||||||
| 17 | the best Italian food available in the entire Midwest; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Foodies should be warned that reservations are | ||||||
| 19 | mandatory at Saputo's, even for couples, unless you plan on | ||||||
| 20 | eating by yourself; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Now in its fourth generation of family running the | ||||||
| 2 | restaurant, Saputo's has become a favorite destination that | ||||||
| 3 | attracts travelers, local, State, and federal politicians, | ||||||
| 4 | dignitaries, and even television personalities; therefore, be | ||||||
| 5 | it

| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 7 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 8 | recognize the 70th anniversary of Saputo's on April 27, 2018 | ||||||
| 9 | and we congratulate Mike and Sandy Coffey on making Saputo's a | ||||||
| 10 | destination restaurant; and be it further
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to Mike and Sandy Coffey as a symbol of our respect | ||||||
| 13 | and esteem.
