HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Ron and Barb Maley
4of Auburn on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary;
5and
6 WHEREAS, Ronald Joseph Maley of Auburn and Barbara Anita
7Stead of Springfield were wed at Blessed Sacrament Church in
8Springfield by Father Richard Niebrugge and Father Philip Kraft
9on April 20, 1968; and
10 WHEREAS, Ron, a graduate of Auburn public schools and a
11veteran of the United States Marine Corps (1961-1966), and
12Barb, a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School, Ursuline Academy,
13and St. John's School of Nursing in Springfield, settled in
14Auburn; and
15 WHEREAS, Ron served as a detective, lieutenant, and chief
16of police for the Chicago and Illinois Midland Railway in
17Springfield; he retired in 1993 after 20 years of service, and
18later worked as a general contractor, building three of the
19four houses in which he and Barb have resided together, as well
20as their children's houses; Barb worked as a labor and delivery
21registered nurse, a nurse educator, and facilitator of the
22birth center education and information systems at St. John's

1Hospital in Springfield; she retired in 2012 after 40 years of
2service, and she continues to volunteer; and
3 WHEREAS, Ron and Barb raised three children, Derek (Julie),
4Stephanie (Kevin) Keown, and Christopher (Alison) and are
5blessed with five grandchildren, Andrew, Courtney, Ethan,
6Caitlyn, and William; and
7 WHEREAS, Ron and Barb enjoy traveling, reading, gardening,
8and spending time with their family, especially watching their
9grandchildren play sports; therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12congratulate Ron and Barb Maley on their 50th wedding
13anniversary, and we wish them continued happiness for years to
14come; and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Ron and Barb Maley as a symbol of our respect and
17esteem.
