| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate John Clancy on the | ||||||
4 | occasion of his 99th birthday on October 18, 2020; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, John Clancy enlisted in the United States Navy on | ||||||
6 | September 26, 1942 as a Chief Petty Officer and is one of the | ||||||
7 | oldest living World War II veterans; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, John Clancy's initial time in the Navy was spent | ||||||
9 | in Naval Intelligence; when that department was closed in early | ||||||
10 | 1944, he was assigned to the USS Nehenta Bay (CVE-74); and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, John Clancy served as a Flight Deck Chief/Plane | ||||||
12 | Director while assigned to the USS Nehenta Bay; after the war, | ||||||
13 | he continued to serve as the Chief Master of Arms while the | ||||||
14 | Nehenta Bay transported sailors to their home ports; and

15 | WHEREAS, John Clancy was discharged from the Navy on | ||||||
16 | December 29, 1945 after serving with distinction; therefore, be | ||||||
17 | it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
19 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
20 | we congratulate John Clancy on the occasion of his 99th |
