| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate the Schlarman Academy | ||||||
| 4 | girls basketball team, the Hilltoppers, on winning the | ||||||
| 5 | 2017-2018 Illinois High School Association Class 1A State | ||||||
| 6 | Championship; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The Hilltoppers defeated Stockton High School by a | ||||||
| 8 | score of 53 to 31 on February 24, 2018 at Illinois State | ||||||
| 9 | University Redbird Arena in Normal; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, This is the first girls basketball state title for | ||||||
| 11 | Schlarman Academy and the first for the school since 1981; | ||||||
| 12 | Schlarman Academy is a faith-based, preschool through high | ||||||
| 13 | school educational community that promotes spiritual, | ||||||
| 14 | intellectual, physical, and moral development in a dynamic | ||||||
| 15 | climate of academic excellence centered on Christian values and | ||||||
| 16 | the Catholic tradition; it is located in Danville and has a | ||||||
| 17 | student body of 99; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, The Hilltoppers are Cece Damilano, Sydney Gouard, | ||||||
| 19 | Capria Brown, Anaya Peoples, Tannah Ceader, Janiah Newell, Emma | ||||||
| 20 | Bogan, Suzet Semersheim, McKaylee Allen, and Destiny Dye; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, The Hilltoppers are coached by Head Coach Keith | ||||||

| 1 | Peoples and assistant coaches Jerry O'Neill, David Gouard, | ||||||
| 2 | Ollie Harrison, and LaTana Lillard; the managers are Ana | ||||||
| 3 | Fitzgerald, Mollie DeBoard, and Elizabeth Stimac; the | ||||||
| 4 | principal is Gail Lewis, the athletic director is Phil Sexton, | ||||||
| 5 | and the dean is Mark Croy; and

| 6 | WHEREAS, The Hilltopper cheerleaders are Jaida Green, | ||||||
| 7 | Ainslee Johnson, Jayden King, Tamara Kriening, Sarah Lukas, | ||||||
| 8 | Sara Switzer, Elijah Williams, Winne Zheng, and Jessalyn | ||||||
| 9 | Gonzalez; they are coached by Alicia Moody; therefore, be it

| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 11 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 12 | congratulate the Schlarman Academy girls basketball team, the | ||||||
| 13 | Hilltoppers, on winning the 2017-2018 Illinois High School | ||||||
| 14 | Association Class 1A State Championship; and be it further
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 16 | presented to the Hilltoppers and their coaches as a symbol of | ||||||
| 17 | our respect and esteem.
