HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Laurel
4Susan Bault of Elgin, who passed away on May 17, 2020; and
5 WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was born in Champaign to Lloyd James
6and Mae (Hall) McKenzie on December 13, 1957; she grew up in
7Ottawa; she attended Northern Illinois University; she married
8Kyle Bault on September 12, 1981; and
9 WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was employed by Elgin District U-46
10as a parent liaison for Garfield Elementary School and as an
11AVID (Advanced via Individual Determination) coordinator at
12Tefft Middle School; she ran for public office in 2006; and
13 WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was deeply involved in the Elgin
14community, where she served as a Girl Scout leader, a volunteer
15for the American Little League, and an organizer of the annual
16Elgin CROP Walk; she served on the Citizen's Advisory Council
17for Elgin District U-46; she was the education chairman for the
18League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area; she was on the board
19of the Dupage United and Fox River Valley Initiative,
20supporting a low income, affordable housing project in Elgin
21(1212 Larkin Project); she received the Marjorie Leonard Award
22for Community Service from the YMCA of Elgin in 2004; and

1 WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was committed to her faith and was
2baptized at First United Methodist Church in Champaign; she was
3an active member of the Cornerstone United Methodist Church in
4Elgin, where she was a founding board member and treasurer of a
5mission serving the Irechelo Village of Kenya called Into
6Kenya; she was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan; and
7 WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was known for fighting for social
8justice and supporting the underserved and overlooked in her
9local community; she will be remembered for her countless
10contributions to the Elgin community; and
11 WHEREAS, Laurel Bault was preceded in death by her parents,
12Lloyd and Mae McKenzie, and her twin sister, Mary Elizabeth
13McKenzie; and
14 WHEREAS, Laurel Bault is survived by her husband, Kyle
15Bault; her children, Jason (Amanda Pinkston) Bault and Erin
16(Silas) Haltom; her sisters, Catherine (David) Eichelkraut,
17Margaret Johnson, and Ellen (Jack) Cress; her sister-in-law,
18Melissa (Marshall) Sayad; and her nieces and nephews, Blake
19(Jaime) Eichelkraut, Emily Eichelkraut, Sarah Clark (Johnson),
20and Scott Cress; therefore, be it

1HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
2we mourn the passing of Laurel Susan Bault and extend our
3sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
4and loved her; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
6presented to the family of Laurel Bault as an expression of our
7deepest sympathy.
