| 2 | WHEREAS, The Amicus Poloniae - the Friend of Polonia - | ||||||
| 3 | Volunteer Free Legal Clinic celebrates its 25th anniversary of | ||||||
| 4 | offering free legal help to low-income members of the Polish | ||||||
| 5 | community in Chicago in October of 2015; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The Amicus Poloniae volunteer attorneys meet at | ||||||
| 7 | 5711 North Milwaukee Avenue on Chicago's northwest side in the | ||||||
| 8 | Alliance Building on the third Saturday of each month to advise | ||||||
| 9 | people on their legal problems; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, The Amicus Poloniae were inspired by other ethnic | ||||||
| 11 | groups
throughout Chicago that provide
legal help to | ||||||
| 12 | individuals that would
normally be unable to afford to
hire an | ||||||
| 13 | attorney for legal work, advice, or to accompany them to a | ||||||
| 14 | court
room; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, On
average 10 to 20 attorneys volunteer
to help up | ||||||
| 16 | to 60 clients each month; aid is given on civil
matters that | ||||||
| 17 | include immigration,
probate, elder law, Social Security,
| ||||||
| 18 | housing, employment, foreclosure,
and retirement, among other | ||||||
| 19 | types of
cases; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Amicus Poloniae has been sponsored by the Polish | ||||||
| 21 | National
Alliance since 1990; therefore, be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 2 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 3 | congratulate Amicus Poloniae - the Friend of Polonia - | ||||||
| 4 | Volunteer Free Legal Clinic as it celebrates its 25th | ||||||
| 5 | anniversary in October of 2015 and thank them for their | ||||||
| 6 | dedication to the community and their commitment to public | ||||||
| 7 | service; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to Amicus Poloniae as an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
| 10 | respect.
