HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Donald R.
"Don" Smith of Harrisburg, who passed away on March 7, 2012;
and
WHEREAS, Donald Smith was born on April 10, 1941, in Muddy;
he was the son of John William and Edith (Dardeen) Smith; he
married Phyllis Kay Millspaugh on May 10, 1962; and
WHEREAS, Donald Smith was a retired coal miner who worked
at Eagle One and at the Keensburg Coal Mine; and
WHEREAS, Donald Smith was a member of the Sons of the
American Legion of the Equality McLain-Glover Post No. 595; and
WHEREAS, Donald Smith was preceded in death by his parents;
his brother, William E. Smith; his nephew, Terry Dean Wise; and
his beloved dog, Maggie; and
WHEREAS, Donald Smith is survived by his wife, Kay Smith;
his daughters, Teresa Collins and Ida (Brad) Evans; his sister,
Donna Kay Wise; his grandchildren, Cory Ray Collins and Hanna
Kay Evans; his great-grandchild, Nathan Andrew Collins; and his
nephews, Johnny (Kera) Wise, Billy Joe Wise, Ronnie Eugene

Smith, and Jason Smith; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of
Donald R. "Don" Smith; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to the family of Donald Smith as an expression of our
sympathy.
