HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, In November of 1972, superintendents from Lake
3County Schools met to discuss the need for a new vocational
4center; a referendum was held and passed in December of 1973
5and groundbreaking began on July 10, 1975; on September 1,
61977, 33 buses from 19 participating high schools transported
71,230 students to the Lake County Area Vocational Center for
8the first day of classes; and
9 WHEREAS, Lake County High Schools Technology Campus, known
10as the Tech Campus, is an extension of many area high schools
11designed for high school students to attend classes in a
12specific career training program; the Tech Campus is regarded
13as one of the best career and technical education training
14facilities in the midwest with a highly qualified staff
15dedicated to excellence in career and technical education; and
16 WHEREAS, With 22 member high schools throughout Lake and
17McHenry Counties, representing nearly 1,600 high school
18students, the campus has one of the largest career technical
19secondary educational systems in the State of Illinois; and
20 WHEREAS, The Tech Campus experience provides an
21educational environment that supports and encourages
22individual learning styles, develops occupational skills and

1professionalism, promotes academic growth, and assists
2students in discovering their potential; in addition to high
3school credit, the Tech Campus, partnered with the College of
4Lake County, allows students the opportunity to earn college
5credit at no cost; therefore, be it
6 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
7HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8encourage the Lake County High Schools Technology Campus to
9change its name to the Lake County College and Career Center
10with the goal of changing the mentality of career and technical
11education and encouraging attending students to pursue careers
12or college after graduation; and be it further
13 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14delivered to the Lake County High Schools Technology Campus.
