2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Delvano | ||||||
4 | LaValle Jones, who passed away on January 12, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Delvano Jones was born in Chicago to Arthur A. | ||||||
6 | Jones and Jean Overton-Jones on November 10, 1953; he attended | ||||||
7 | Corkery Elementary School and graduated from Austin High School | ||||||
8 | in 1972; he later attended Bradley University, where he was a | ||||||
9 | member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Epsilon Kappa | ||||||
10 | Chapter; he regaled his fellow students with his unique wit, | ||||||
11 | friendliness, and insight; anyone who knew him was very | ||||||
12 | familiar with his love of conversation; he earned his Bachelor | ||||||
13 | of Science in Business from Bradley in 1976; he married Laura | ||||||
14 | Elizabeth Johnson at the Christ Universal Temple in 1986; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, After graduation, Delvano Jones began a | ||||||
16 | successful sales career with several Fortune 500 companies, | ||||||
17 | including American Tobacco Company, Pitney Bowes, Xerox, and | ||||||
18 | World Pay Corporation; there is no doubt that his skills in | ||||||
19 | communication contributed to his successful sales and | ||||||
20 | marketing career; and
| ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Delvano Jones was a lifelong member of Christ | ||||||
22 | Universal Temple; his strong commitment to his faith was |

1 | apparent in his love for his church; he participated in | ||||||
2 | spiritual retreats and was a proud member of the Hospitality | ||||||
3 | Committee; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Delvano Jones was a devoted husband, father, | ||||||
5 | brother, and friend; he enjoyed grilling, golfing, sports, | ||||||
6 | FitBits, and keeping up with the latest television shows, | ||||||
7 | movies, and audio and visual electronics; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Delvano Jones was preceded in death by his | ||||||
9 | parents; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Delvano Jones is survived by his loving wife and | ||||||
11 | best friend, Laura; his son, Delvano LaValle II; his daughter, | ||||||
12 | Marielle Nicole; his sisters, Charmine Minette Jones-Sprauve | ||||||
13 | (Christopher), Jerilyn Frazier (Daniel); his brother, Leron | ||||||
14 | Jones; his brothers-in-law, Ralph Johnson and Harold Johnson II | ||||||
15 | (Marilyn); his sister-in-law, Maria Johnson; and his many | ||||||
16 | nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
18 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
19 | mourn the passing of Delvano LaValle Jones and extend our | ||||||
20 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
21 | and loved him; and be it further
