2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Allen | ||||||
4 | Frederick Bennett, who passed away on Wednesday, November 29, | ||||||
5 | 2017; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett was born to the late Leo | ||||||
7 | and Donna Bennett on August 29, 1943 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois; | ||||||
8 | and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett earned a bachelor's | ||||||
10 | degree in business commerce from the University of Illinois in | ||||||
11 | 1965; he graduated law school from the University of Tennessee | ||||||
12 | and received his Juris Doctor in 1967; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett began his distinguished | ||||||
14 | public service career in 1968, when he was elected State's | ||||||
15 | Attorney of Moultrie County, Illinois; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett, shortly thereafter, | ||||||
17 | served as the Public Defender of Macon County before his | ||||||
18 | election as State Representative from Decatur in 1976; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett also served as an | ||||||
20 | Assistant Attorney general and later as a lobbyist for the |

1 | Fraternal Order of Police, Trooper's Lodge #41 and Illinois | ||||||
2 | Fraternal Order of Police, State Lodge; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett served the people of | ||||||
4 | Illinois by being one of the few to serve in all three branches | ||||||
5 | of Illinois Government: The General Assembly, Executive, and | ||||||
6 | Judiciary; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennet practiced law privately in | ||||||
8 | Sullivan, Decatur, Springfield, and Shelbyville before being | ||||||
9 | elected Resident Circuit Judge of Shelby County, 4th Judicial | ||||||
10 | Circuit in 2012; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett was preceded in death by | ||||||
12 | his parents, Leo and Donna Bennett; and his sister, Suzie | ||||||
13 | Rudin; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Allen Frederick Bennett is survived by his wife, | ||||||
15 | Tina Bennett; his children, Tammera McClendon, Allen Bennett | ||||||
16 | II, and Trina Bedlington; his sisters, Katie (Byron) Cartwright | ||||||
17 | and Sally (James) Hooten; his eight grandchildren; his four | ||||||
18 | great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews; | ||||||
19 | therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
21 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we |

1 | mourn the passing of Allen Frederick Bennett and extend our | ||||||
2 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
3 | and loved him; and be it further
