HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to celebrate the centennial birthday of
Ruth Robbins on March 22, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins has been an integral part of
Chicago's Ravenswood Manor neighborhood since moving to the
community at the age of six; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins began working in the 1950s as an
assistant to the president of the National Association of
Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET); and
WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins retired from NABET in 1992; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins, accompanied by her sister Elaine,
traveled extensively around the world exploring countries and
cultures on nearly every continent; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins is renowned for her voracious reading
appetite, including many genres of fiction and nonfiction
alike; and
WHEREAS, Ruth Robbins remains engaged in current events,
monitoring public policy issues closely even today; therefore,

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that, with
a tip of our collective hats, we congratulate Ruth Robbins on
her 100th birthday and thank her for her contributions to the
State of Illinois; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Ruth Robbins as an expression of our appreciation.
