2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Marquis | ||||||
4 | Mitchell, who passed away on August 9, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Marquis Mitchell was born on March 12, 1983 in | ||||||
6 | Chicago; he received his primary education at Herbert Spencer | ||||||
7 | Elementary School and his secondary education at William J. | ||||||
8 | Bogan High School; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Marquis Mitchell enjoyed playing basketball and | ||||||
10 | video games, his Air Jordan shoes, taking photos showing off | ||||||
11 | his "kicks of the day", visiting the barbershop to debate his | ||||||
12 | favorite pastime, and spending time with his family and | ||||||
13 | friends; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Marquis Mitchell worked diligently at Edna's Soul | ||||||
15 | Food Restaurant; under the tutelage of his grandmother and his | ||||||
16 | father, he developed excellent cooking skills and wished to | ||||||
17 | carry on the legacy as a chef; he also worked as a paratransit | ||||||
18 | driver for 2 years; and

19 | WHEREAS, Marquis Mitchell was preceded in death by his | ||||||
20 | sister, Atlantis Cafe' Andrews, and his grandmother, Edna L. | ||||||
