1		HOUSE RESOLUTION
2		WHEREAS, George Poulos retired from the Chicago Park
3		District in 1998 after 33 years of dedicated service to the
4		City of Chicago, including 18 years as the supervisor of Welles
5		Park; and
6		WHEREAS, On November 7, 2009, community members and friends
7		will join together in declaring the 2300 block of West
8		Sunnyside in Chicago, adjacent to Welles Park, as "Honorary
9		George Poulos Way"; and
10		WHEREAS, George Poulos began his career with the Chicago
11		Park District in 1969 as an hourly instructor; he was then
12		promoted to supervisor at Clarendon Park; and
13		WHEREAS, George Poulos became of the supervisor of Welles
14		Park in 1973 and continued to serve in that position until
15		1990; and
16		WHEREAS, Under George Poulos' leadership, Welles Park
17		thrived by developing a little league program, a football
18		program, a basketball program, and many other athletic
19		programs; and
20		WHEREAS, Many young Chicagoans benefited greatly from

1		George Poulos' tireless leadership; and
2		WHEREAS, Many Chicago Park District staff, whose career
3		paths took them through Welles Park, were fortunate to have
4		George Poulos as a mentor and a leader; therefore, be it
5		RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6		NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
7		congratulate and thank George Poulos for the many years of
8		dedicated service he has given to his community and for the
9		unveiling of the "Honorary George Poulos Way" street sign on
10		the 2300 block of West Sunnyside in Chicago; and be it further
11		RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be given
12		to George Poulos and his family as a symbol of our esteem and
13		respect.
