HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, On July 16, 2015 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 5
3United States Marines were murdered and 2 other individuals
4were wounded at a United States Armed Services recruiting
5center and a Naval Reserve Facility; and
6 WHEREAS, In recent years, there have been multiple other
7attacks planned, and at least 8 completed, against United
8States military members on military sites; and
9 WHEREAS, The United States Armed Forces and the Illinois
10National Guard serve our country with courage and honor and
11protect the freedom of our nation; and
12 WHEREAS, This country should take any and every measure
13available to ensure military personnel are appropriately
14protected against attacks, including but not limited to
15securing their work areas and recruiting stations; therefore,
16be it
17 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
18NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
19urge Congress to swiftly promulgate laws that ensure members of
20the military are adequately armed for their protection,
21including, but not limited to the arming of military personnel

1at facilities and recruiting stations, enhancing security at
2military facilities, and providing for any other measure to
3ensure the preservation of lives; and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
5delivered to the Speaker and Minority Leader of the United
6States House of Representatives, the Majority and Minority
7Leaders of the United States Senate, and the members of the
8Illinois congressional delegation.
