HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to commend Dr. Gary L. Knepp for all that
4he has accomplished over his career and thank him for his
5dedication and hard work; and
6 WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp grew up on a farm in the
7Eureka/Washington area and started his education at Illinois
8Central College; he obtained a Bachelor of Science in
9Agricultural Engineering from the University of Illinois at
10Urbana-Champaign, followed by a Doctorate in Osteopathic
11Medicine from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine; he
12completed post-doctoral medical training through the Chicago
13Osteopathic Hospital; and
14 WHEREAS, After completing medical school and post-doctoral
15training, Dr. Knepp received board certification in family
16medicine with a sub-specialization in geriatrics; he took a
17strong clinical interest in the diagnosis and treatment of
18dementia; and
19 WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp has dedicated his life to helping people
20by providing compassionate and expert care to his patients; and
21 WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp spent 22 years practicing medicine in

1Eureka and helped lead in the creation of post graduate
2training residencies in family medicine and neurosurgery at the
3BroMenn Medical Center in Normal; and
4 WHEREAS, Beginning in 2007, Dr. Knepp served four years as
5the Professor of Geriatrics and Assistant Regional Dean at the
6West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine; and
7 WHEREAS, After his time in West Virginia, Dr. Knepp
8returned to his Central Illinois home as the Director of
9Medical Education and Osteopathic Program Director at the
10University of Illinois Family Medicine Residency in Peoria; and
11 WHEREAS, While at University of Illinois, Dr. Knepp led in
12the development of the dual accreditation of the residency with
13the American Osteopathic Association and helped develop the
14geriatric curriculum; and
15 WHEREAS, In 2012, Dr. Knepp was appointed Vice President
16and Chief Medical Officer for UnityPoint Health - Methodist and
17as President of UnityPoint Clinics; in 2017, he was appointed
18Regional Chief Quality Officer for UnityPoint Health; and
19 WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp continued to share his knowledge with
20others as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the Kirksville
21College of Osteopathic Medicine; and

1 WHEREAS, Dr. Knepp's passion to serve others has also taken
2him outside of hospitals, clinics, and classrooms; he has
3served in the Peoria Rotary Club, the Eureka United Methodist
4Church, the American Cancer Society, and the Eureka Fire
5Protection District; and
6 WHEREAS, After a long and distinguished career of serving
7selflessly in the community and bettering the lives of
8countless others, Dr. Knepp is retiring from UnityPoint Health;
9he plans to enjoy life with his 16 grandchildren, three
10great-grandchildren, and his various hobbies of amateur radio
11and farming; therefore, be it
12 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
13HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we commend Dr. Gary L. Knepp for all that he has accomplished
15over his career and thank him for his dedication and hard work;
16and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to Dr. Knepp as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
