| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate William Franklin Squires | ||||||
| 4 | IV on obtaining the rank of Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop | ||||||
| 5 | 493; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, William Squires began his scouting career as a | ||||||
| 7 | Tiger Scout at the age of six; as a Boy Scout, he attended | ||||||
| 8 | summer camp at Camp Napowan, Camp
MaKaJaWan, and Camp Tomahawk; | ||||||
| 9 | he attended the 2013 National Boy Scout Jamboree and
| ||||||
| 10 | participated is numerous other camping trips, outings, and | ||||||
| 11 | service projects; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, William Squires achieved the rank of Eagle Scout | ||||||
| 13 | on
June 6, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, To become an Eagle Scout, William Squires earned a | ||||||
| 15 | total of 25 merit badges; he also had to
plan, develop, and | ||||||
| 16 | provide leadership to others in a service project benefiting | ||||||
| 17 | the community; his
project benefited the School District 54 | ||||||
| 18 | Early Learning Center Sensory Garden; the project
created four | ||||||
| 19 | raised flower beds for plants that engage the five senses and | ||||||
| 20 | three outdoor scales
for the students to experiment with | ||||||
| 21 | weighing objects; he chose to give back to the School
District | ||||||
| 22 | 54 Early Childhood Program, because he attended the program as | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | a preschooler; he credits the program for giving him a strong | ||||||
| 2 | foundation for success; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, William Squires is a 17-year-old
senior at Hoffman | ||||||
| 4 | Estates High School; he is the son of William F. III and | ||||||
| 5 | Stephanie Squires; he also participates in Best Buddies, band, | ||||||
| 6 | German Exchange,
and Thespians; he works as a life guard at the | ||||||
| 7 | local pool; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, After high school, William Squires plans on
| ||||||
| 9 | continuing his education and earning a bachelor's degree; he | ||||||
| 10 | also plans to continue to give
back by volunteering in the | ||||||
| 11 | community; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 13 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 14 | congratulate William Franklin Squires IV on obtaining the rank | ||||||
| 15 | of Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 493; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That as a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to William Squires as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
| 18 | esteem.
