HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Charles
4Craig Mannschreck of St. Joseph, Missouri, who passed away on
5August 21, 2019; and
6 WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck was born in St. Joseph, Missouri
7to Charles and Arline Mannschreck on November 6, 1944; he
8graduated from Central High School in 1962, where he was
9president of his class for all four years and president of the
10National Honor Society; he was also tri-captain of the football
11team and an All-American football player; he graduated from
12Texas Christian University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts and
13was president of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity; he served in
14Vietnam as a United States Marine Corps aviator, flying attack
15helicopters; and
16 WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck was a pillar of the Saint
17Joseph, Missouri community; he served as president of the
18Mannschreck Book Store and on the AAA Board for the Midwest
19Region; he took great pride in running the chains at Central
20High School football games for 40 years; he was a pickle ball
21enthusiast; he was a deacon of Wyatt Park Christian Church,
22president of the board, and sang in the church choir; and

1 WHEREAS, In 2000, Craig Mannschreck became chief operating
2officer of Resource One in Springfield, Illinois; he quickly
3became an irreplaceable part of the Springfield community; and
4 WHEREAS, Springfield, Resource One became a household name
5for office furnishings; they supplied furniture for nine of the
611 state universities, many community colleges, both the House
7and Senate chambers at the Capitol, the Attorney General's
8office, the Speaker of the House's office, legislative staff
9offices, the Illinois EPA, three Illinois National Guard
10readiness centers, Lincoln's Challenge in Rantoul, numerous
11city and county organizations, and lobbyist and association
12offices across the State; and
13 WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck was proud of the business
14relationships Resource One maintained with private businesses
15in Springfield and across Illinois; from the mom-and-pop
16business to prominent Fortune 500 companies, he treated all
17with the same level of respect and attention; in 2011, he was a
18co-recipient, along with his business partner Cindy Davis, of
19the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce Small Business
20Person of the Year award; and
21 WHEREAS, For 18 years, Craig Mannschreck was a weekday
22fixture in downtown Springfield, as a business owner, landlord,
23resident, and merry soul; he would stop in to talk to everyone

1from a bookshop owner to a bank president, treating everyone
2with the same level of respect and courtesy; he never walked
3past a person on the street without asking them how they were;
4he was a humble man who will be most remembered for his good
5nature and concern for others; and
6 WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck was preceded in death by his
7parents; and
8 WHEREAS, Craig Mannschreck is survived by his wife, Judith;
9his sons, Chapman (Ashley) and Mitchell (Lauren); his brother,
10Dannen (Sandy); his sister, Sherrill Adams (Jerry); his
11grandchildren, Campbell, Colt, Henry, and Dalton; and many
12nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it
13 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
14HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Charles Craig Mannschreck and extend
16our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who
17knew and loved him; and be it further
18 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Craig Mannschreck as an expression
20of our deepest sympathy.
