| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to
congratulate the Ainad Shriners Circus | ||||||
| 4 | on the occasion of its 50th anniversary and on its tradition of | ||||||
| 5 | entertaining Southern
Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, The original Shriners Circus, known as the Shrine
| ||||||
| 7 | Circus and Arabian Fete, was held on January 21, 1922 in East | ||||||
| 8 | Saint
Louis, with entertainment provided by the John W. Moore | ||||||
| 9 | Co.; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Despite bad weather, the organizers of this first
| ||||||
| 11 | circus persevered through the winter to entertain Illinois
| ||||||
| 12 | families with thrilling acts and animal performances; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, At some point, the original circus was | ||||||
| 14 | discontinued; it was revived in 1967 and has taken place
every | ||||||
| 15 | year since; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, The modern Ainad Shriners Circus continues to wow | ||||||
| 17 | and
entertain Illinois families with its unique performances | ||||||
| 18 | and
circus acts from around the world, including its Bengal | ||||||
| 19 | Tigers,
clowns, elephants, and acrobatics; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, The Ainad Shriners Circus continues the same fun | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | and
family friendly tradition that has lasted for 50 | ||||||
| 2 | consecutive
years; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 4 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 5 | congratulate
the Ainad Shriners Circus on its 50th anniversary, | ||||||
| 6 | and that
we wish it 50 more years of continued operation and | ||||||
| 7 | success; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be sent | ||||||
| 9 | to the
Ainad Shriners Circus as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
| 10 | respect.
