2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of William | ||||||
4 | Norman "Bill" Krucks of Winnetka, who passed away on July 23, | ||||||
5 | 2021; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, William Krucks was born in Chicago on October 28, | ||||||
7 | 1949 and grew up in Deerfield; he attained degrees from Tulane | ||||||
8 | University and graduated from the University of Mississippi | ||||||
9 | School of Law, where he ranked first in his class, served as | ||||||
10 | editor of the Mississippi Law Journal, and was a member of the | ||||||
11 | Moot Court Board; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, William Krucks initially practiced law in Chicago | ||||||
13 | at a prominent law firm; together with five partners and six | ||||||
14 | staff, he departed his firm and co-founded the new law firm | ||||||
15 | Freeborn & Peters LLP at the age of 33 in June 1983; he saw the | ||||||
16 | firm grow into employing more than 350 people across five | ||||||
17 | national offices in four states and become ranked among | ||||||
18 | Chicago's elite; he was noted for his success and his | ||||||
19 | dedication to his clients; he maintained many client | ||||||
20 | relationships that lasted for more than 30 years; and

21 | WHEREAS, William Krucks was named a leading lawyer in the | ||||||
22 | fields of Labor, Employment, and Insurance Defense Law by the |

1 | Leading Lawyers Network, a designation accorded to less than | ||||||
2 | five percent of practicing lawyers in the United States; he | ||||||
3 | was nominated as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in | ||||||
4 | 2011 and Fellow of the College of Workers' Compensation | ||||||
5 | Lawyers; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, William Krucks was committed to public service | ||||||
7 | and his community; he was elected and served as the chair of | ||||||
8 | the Village of Winnetka Caucus Council from 2010 to 2011; he | ||||||
9 | was a commissioner of the Zoning Board of Appeals and the chair | ||||||
10 | of the Winnetka Plan Commission; he served as a village | ||||||
11 | trustee and a member of the Winnetka Village Council from 2014 | ||||||
12 | to 2017; he belonged to the Chicago Volunteer Legal Services | ||||||
13 | Advisory Board since 2017; apart from his law practice and | ||||||
14 | civic leadership, he also served as chairman, director, vice | ||||||
15 | president, and general counsel for the Rauland-Borg | ||||||
16 | Corporation; and

17 | WHEREAS, William Krucks was an avid reader and a lifelong | ||||||
18 | student; he loved his Cigarette Racing boat, the annual | ||||||
19 | fishing trips he took with his friends, rock and roll, and his | ||||||
20 | ever-improving golf game; he was devoted to his family, and he | ||||||
21 | always coached his girls' soccer teams and helped with science | ||||||
22 | projects; alongside his wife, he held multiple roles within | ||||||
23 | the Trevian Girls Softball Association and could often be | ||||||
24 | found cheering on the sidelines of their children's various |

1 | sporting events; he will be remembered most for being a loving | ||||||
2 | husband and father who never stopped giving; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, William Krucks was preceded in death by his | ||||||
4 | parents, William and Lorraine (Rauland) Krucks; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, William Krucks is survived by his wife, Linda; | ||||||
6 | his brother, Kenneth R. Krucks; his children, Jaylee | ||||||
7 | (McGarvey) House, Cary (Ashley) Levine, Kathryn "Kiki" Krucks, | ||||||
8 | Greta Krucks Montagano, and Laura (Matt) Strautman; and his | ||||||
9 | five grandchildren; therefore, be it

10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
11 | HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
12 | we mourn the passing of William Norman "Bill" Krucks and | ||||||
13 | extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all | ||||||
14 | who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
16 | presented to the family of William Krucks as an expression of | ||||||
17 | our deepest sympathy.
