| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize the positive work being done | ||||||
| 4 | by the Royal Family Dance Team of Peoria; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, The Royal Family Dance Team was founded in 2015 by | ||||||
| 6 | Shenneca Williams and Courtney Langhorn who noticed that the | ||||||
| 7 | inner city had very few positive programs for young girls; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, The mission of the Royal Family Dance Team is to | ||||||
| 9 | empower today's youth for their future through the power of | ||||||
| 10 | dance; to socially, mentally, and physically develop young | ||||||
| 11 | dancers through the mediums of competitive dance; and to build | ||||||
| 12 | long lasting relationships, self-esteem, confidence, team | ||||||
| 13 | camaraderie, and sportsmanship; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, The Royal Family Dance Team provides positive | ||||||
| 15 | alternatives to at risk youth by surrounding them with positive | ||||||
| 16 | role models and by giving them exposure outside of their | ||||||
| 17 | community; it promotes excellence in education and encourages | ||||||
| 18 | each young lady to continue on with higher education; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, The Royal Family Dance Team is not just a team, | ||||||
| 20 | they are a family; therefore, be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 2 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 3 | recognize the positive work being done by the Royal Family | ||||||
| 4 | Dance Team and we wish them many more wonderful years; and be | ||||||
| 5 | it further

| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to the Royal Family Dance Team as an expression of | ||||||
| 8 | our esteem and respect.
