2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Sandy Ziros on being | ||||||
4 | selected as the 68th Annual Woman of the Year by Altrusa | ||||||
5 | International of Elgin; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Altrusa International was founded in 1917 with an | ||||||
7 | original focus on literacy; since then, service areas have | ||||||
8 | expanded to include HIV/AIDS and disaster relief; Altrusa | ||||||
9 | International of Elgin was founded in 1946 and officially | ||||||
10 | chartered in 1947; the Woman of the Year Award was first | ||||||
11 | awarded in 1950; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Sandy Ziros is being honored for her continued | ||||||
13 | efforts in helping others
in the community; her journey to | ||||||
14 | helping others in need began when
her grandson, Cory, was six | ||||||
15 | years old and in need of a kidney transplant; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Over the years, Sandy Ziros has organized a
number | ||||||
17 | of local fundraisers and has raised thousands of dollars to | ||||||
18 | benefit those in need; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Volunteering in her community has always been | ||||||
20 | important to Sandy Ziros; she was recognized for her commitment | ||||||
21 | to her community with the President's Volunteer Service

Civic | ||||||
2 | Participation; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Sandy Ziros was born in St. Charles and raised in | ||||||
4 | Elgin and South Elgin; she graduated from Elgin High School and | ||||||
5 | is Vice-President of Statement
Marketing with CitiBank in Elk | ||||||
6 | Grove Village, where she has been
employed for 17 years; and

7 | WHEREAS, Sandy Ziros and her husband, Al, have been married | ||||||
8 | for 37 years and reside
in South Elgin; they have a daughter, | ||||||
9 | Aimee, and a son, Roger; Aimee
and her husband, Tony, have | ||||||
10 | three children, Abby, Niky, and Cory; Tony
has two sons, Nathan | ||||||
11 | and Dylan; Roger and his wife, Sheri, have three
children, | ||||||
12 | Emily, Brynn, and Paige; Sandy and Al have a | ||||||
13 | great-granddaughter, Malia, the daughter of Abby; therefore, | ||||||
14 | be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
16 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
17 | congratulate Sandy Ziros on being selected as the 68th Annual | ||||||
18 | Woman of the Year by Altrusa International of Elgin; and be it | ||||||
19 | further
