| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Michael "Mike" O'Donnell | ||||||
| 4 | on the occasion of his retirement from his position as | ||||||
| 5 | Executive Director of
the East Central Illinois Area Agency on | ||||||
| 6 | Aging (ECIAAA), a regional, non-profit
organization, after | ||||||
| 7 | more than 35 years; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell oversees community-based programs | ||||||
| 9 | and services supporting more
than 20,000 older adults in over | ||||||
| 10 | 16 counties, working in coordination with the Illinois
| ||||||
| 11 | Department of Aging and a network of other agencies; he is | ||||||
| 12 | responsible for the
administration of the agency's $8.9 million | ||||||
| 13 | dollar budget, including federal and State
funds; he previously | ||||||
| 14 | worked as Planner,
Planning Manager, and Associate Director at | ||||||
| 15 | ECIAAA; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, With unwavering dedication to improving the | ||||||
| 17 | quality of life of older
Americans and their families in | ||||||
| 18 | Central Illinois, Mike O'Donnell is known for his commitment to
| ||||||
| 19 | implementing evidence-based healthy-aging programs; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell advocates tirelessly with public | ||||||
| 21 | officials for issues and policies that
support an older adult's | ||||||
| 22 | ability to live life with dignity and safety, making | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | independent
and informed choices for as long as possible; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell shares willingly his knowledge and | ||||||
| 3 | expertise both professionally and
personally, including | ||||||
| 4 | serving as President of the Illinois Coalition on Mental Health | ||||||
| 5 | and
Aging; as past President of Illinois Association of Area | ||||||
| 6 | Agencies on Aging and the Illinois
Coalition on Aging; as past | ||||||
| 7 | Secretary of Illinois Aging Services; and as a member of the
| ||||||
| 8 | Steering Committee for the Illinois Community Health and Aging | ||||||
| 9 | Collaborative; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell, as a man of faith, served his | ||||||
| 11 | country in the United States Navy; he serves as President of | ||||||
| 12 | the Board of Directors for the West Bloomington Revitalization
| ||||||
| 13 | Project, as Secretary of the Board of Trustees for Central | ||||||
| 14 | Catholic High School in
Bloomington, and is a former board | ||||||
| 15 | member for St. Mary's School; he also serves St.
Mary's Parish | ||||||
| 16 | by coordinating its yearly "Annual Diocesan Appeal" campaign | ||||||
| 17 | and his
church as a Cantor and choir member; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Mike O'Donnell is married to Maria, and they plan | ||||||
| 19 | to spend more time
enjoying the company of their 4 adult | ||||||
| 20 | daughters and their families, including a
growing number of | ||||||
| 21 | grandchildren, and traveling; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 22 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||

| 1 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 2 | congratulate Michael "Mike" O'Donnell on his retirement from | ||||||
| 3 | his position as Executive Director of
the East Central Illinois | ||||||
| 4 | Area Agency on Aging after more than 35 years; and be it | ||||||
| 5 | further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to Mike O'Donnell a an expression of our esteem and | ||||||
