2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives were saddened to learn of the death of
Cynthia | ||||||
4 | "Cindy" R. Harris, who passed away on February 11, 2017; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Cindy Harris was born in Waukegan to Earl Schultz | ||||||
6 | and Gloria
Obenauf on June 27, 1948; she graduated from McHenry | ||||||
7 | East Campus High School in 1966 and married Richard Harris in | ||||||
8 | McHenry on August 17, 1968; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, From the time she was 10, Cindy Harris loved 4-H; | ||||||
10 | she was the embodiment of 4-H in every aspect
and personified | ||||||
11 | the 4-H motto "To make the best better"; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Cindy Harris was a 4-H member in the Community | ||||||
13 | Clovers for 11 years and a 4-H club leader for more
than 30 | ||||||
14 | years; the clubs she led included New Generations, Creative | ||||||
15 | Quilters, Grand Time, and
others; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, For more than 35 years, Cindy Harris was McHenry | ||||||
17 | County 4-H's clothing/fashion and sewing
volunteer | ||||||
18 | coordinator; she was also the McHenry County Extension 4-H | ||||||
19 | Community worker for 22 years; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Cindy Harris's dedication to 4-H extended beyond |
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | her own membership to include
volunteerism as a parent, | ||||||
2 | grandparent, community club leader, chaperone to countless 4-H | ||||||
3 | events, and
as a representative at a variety of State and | ||||||
4 | national conferences; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Cindy Harris's involvement improved 4-H at the | ||||||
6 | local, county, regional, State, and national
levels; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Cindy Harris was inducted into the Illinois 4-H | ||||||
8 | Hall of Fame in 2012; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Throughout her life, Cindy Harris improved 4-H | ||||||
10 | programs not only in McHenry County but
throughout the State of | ||||||
11 | Illinois; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Cindy Harris enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, | ||||||
13 | and cooking in her free time; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Cindy Harris was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
15 | Richard; her father, Earl
Schultz; her mother, Gloria Obenauf; | ||||||
16 | her stepfather, Donald Obenauf; her sister, Tammy
Schultz; and | ||||||
17 | her brothers, James and John Schultz; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Cindy Harris is survived by her daughters, | ||||||
19 | Meredith Sena, and Nancy Kowalski; her
grandchildren, Robert | ||||||
20 | Harris, and Tonya and Katrina Kowalski; her sister, Linda |
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | Freund; her
brothers, Kevin, Kelvin, and Kerry Schultz; and | ||||||
2 | several nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
4 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
5 | mourn the passing of Cindy Harris, and extend our sincere | ||||||
6 | condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
7 | her; and be it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Cindy Harris as an expression of our | ||||||
10 | deepest sympathy.
