2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Merilyn | ||||||
4 | "Mimi" Ann Bever Browning, who passed away on March 8, 2017; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Mimi Browning was born in Madison, Wisconsin to | ||||||
7 | Wayne and Velma (Myers) Bever on December 11, 1937; she was | ||||||
8 | raised in Champaign and baptized on April 9, 1944 at First | ||||||
9 | Presbyterian Church; she graduated from Champaign High School | ||||||
10 | and the University of Illinois in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts | ||||||
11 | in Home Economics in the College of Agriculture, where she | ||||||
12 | pledged the Pi Beta Phi sorority; she married Walter "Bud" | ||||||
13 | Browning on June 20, 1960; and

14 | WHEREAS, Mimi Browning and her husband lived in | ||||||
15 | Schenectady, New York and Cleveland, Ohio before returning to | ||||||
16 | Illinois; she was active in her children's schools, where she | ||||||
17 | was a room mother, baseball team mom, and an advocate for the | ||||||
18 | arts; and

19 | WHEREAS, Mimi Browning worked at a sewing store, and in | ||||||
20 | 1983, started a 33-year career as a travel agent in Chicago; | ||||||
21 | she enjoyed traveling herself and visited France, Spain, | ||||||
22 | England, Germany, Turkey, Thailand, and China; with the |

1 | exception of Maine, she traveled to every state in the country; | ||||||
2 | and

3 | WHEREAS, Mimi Browning enjoyed Christmas, cooking, | ||||||
4 | reading, photography, scrapbooking, and entertaining; she | ||||||
5 | joined the Presbyterian Church on April 28, 2002 and was | ||||||
6 | ordained in 2014; she served on the Board of Deacons for three | ||||||
7 | years; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Mimi Browning is survived by her husband of 57 | ||||||
9 | years, Bud; her daughter, Amy (Tom) Novicki; her son, Tom | ||||||
10 | (Jill) Browning; and her grandchildren, Tommy and Anna Novicki, | ||||||
11 | and Susannah, Eric, and Will Browning; therefore, be it
| ||||||
12 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
13 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
14 | mourn the passing of Merilyn "Mimi" Ann Bever Browning, and | ||||||
15 | extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all | ||||||
16 | who knew and loved her; and be it further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to the family of Mimi Browning as an expression of | ||||||
19 | our deepest sympathy.
