HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, TRICARE is a health care program that provides
3civilian health benefits for United States Armed Forces
4military personnel, military retirees, and their dependents;
5and
6 WHEREAS, A large number of TRICARE facilities are owned by
7private companies, including several in Illinois; and
8 WHEREAS, Multiple privately-owned facilities are under
9investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Office
10of the Executive Inspector General for alleged billing fraud
11and potentially unethical practices; and
12 WHEREAS, Some of the violations committed were so severe
13that the facilities faced expulsion from Medicare and Medicaid
14Programs; and
15 WHEREAS, It is alleged that patients were held against
16their will so that the company could make more money; and
17 WHEREAS, Senators from both political parties have spoken
18about the need to end these practices and put the safety of
19patients first; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3urge the federal government to continue its investigation into
4these TRICARE facilities; and be it further
5 RESOLVED, That if a company is found guilty of breaking any
6laws that they should face the fullest punishment allowable;
7and be it further
8 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9delivered to the U.S. Department of Justice.
