HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, Each year since 1987, John A. Logan College in
3Carterville has held Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days
4on its beautiful campus; and
5 WHEREAS, Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days was
6created to celebrate the State's heritage of hunting and
7fishing; it is an educational, family event, dedicated to
8teaching ethics, safety, and conservation in order to enhance
9the outdoor experience; and
10 WHEREAS, Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days is
11considered the largest celebration of National Hunting and
12Fishing Day in the country; it includes numerous activities and
13attractions, such as an art exhibit, a BB gun range, archery, a
14fishing hole for kids, helicopter rides, youth duck-calling and
15goose-calling contests, Camo the Clown, coon dog bench trials,
16imperial retriever dog demonstrations, American Ninja Warrior
17demonstrations, a concealed carry safety program, wildlife and
18reptiles of Illinois presentations, musical entertainment, an
19Abraham Lincoln historical presentation, and tours of the
20Harrison-Bruce Historical Village; and
21 WHEREAS, Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days is made
22possible by the hard work and generous contributions of over

1200 vendors and sponsors, including Black Diamond RV
2Superstore, McDonald's, visitSI, Crab Orchard Refuge, Take
3Pride In-America, and the Friends of Crab Orchard; and
4 WHEREAS, This year 34,000 more visitors enjoyed the various
5activities held at John A. Logan College; and
6 WHEREAS, On September 23, 2018, the one millionth visitor
7to the Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days, Tammy
8McClure of West Frankfort, was recognized in conjunction with
9the Illinois Bicentennial Celebration; therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate John A. Logan College and the Southern Illinois
13Hunting and Fishing Days for their 31 years of providing family
14activities to over one million residents and visitors to
15southern Illinois; and be it further
16 RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
17presented to Chairman of the Southern Illinois Hunting and
18Fishing Days Barry Hancock, John A. Logan College President Dr.
19Ron House, and Tammy McClure.
