| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Each year since 1987, John A. Logan College in | ||||||
| 3 | Carterville has held Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days | ||||||
| 4 | on its beautiful campus; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days was | ||||||
| 6 | created to celebrate the State's heritage of hunting and | ||||||
| 7 | fishing; it is an educational, family event, dedicated to | ||||||
| 8 | teaching ethics, safety, and
conservation in order to enhance | ||||||
| 9 | the outdoor experience; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days is | ||||||
| 11 | considered the largest
celebration of National Hunting and | ||||||
| 12 | Fishing Day in the country; it includes numerous
activities and | ||||||
| 13 | attractions, such as an art exhibit, a BB gun range, archery, a | ||||||
| 14 | fishing hole for kids, helicopter
rides, youth duck-calling and | ||||||
| 15 | goose-calling contests, Camo the Clown, coon dog bench
trials, | ||||||
| 16 | imperial retriever dog demonstrations, American Ninja Warrior | ||||||
| 17 | demonstrations,
a concealed carry safety program, wildlife and | ||||||
| 18 | reptiles of Illinois presentations, musical
entertainment, an | ||||||
| 19 | Abraham Lincoln historical presentation, and tours of the | ||||||
| 20 | Harrison-Bruce
Historical Village; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Southern Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days is made | ||||||
| 22 | possible by the hard work and generous contributions
of over | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | 200 vendors and sponsors, including Black Diamond RV | ||||||
| 2 | Superstore,
McDonald's, visitSI, Crab Orchard Refuge, Take | ||||||
| 3 | Pride In-America, and the Friends of
Crab Orchard; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, This year 34,000 more visitors enjoyed the various | ||||||
| 5 | activities held at John A.
Logan College; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, On September 23, 2018, the one millionth visitor | ||||||
| 7 | to the Southern
Illinois Hunting and Fishing Days, Tammy | ||||||
| 8 | McClure of
West Frankfort, was recognized in conjunction with | ||||||
| 9 | the Illinois
Bicentennial Celebration; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 10 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 11 | HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 12 | we congratulate John A. Logan College and the Southern Illinois | ||||||
| 13 | Hunting and Fishing Days for their 31 years of providing family | ||||||
| 14 | activities to over one million residents and visitors to | ||||||
| 15 | southern Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
| 16 | RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 17 | presented to Chairman of the Southern Illinois Hunting and | ||||||
| 18 | Fishing Days Barry Hancock, John A. Logan College President Dr. | ||||||
| 19 | Ron House, and Tammy McClure.
