| 2 | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois General
| ||||||
| 3 | Assembly
honors those who have served their country, state, and | ||||||
| 4 | community; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jon A. Sibley was a lifelong resident and | ||||||
| 6 | supporter of the City of Galesburg; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Jon A. Sibley devoted his professional life to | ||||||
| 8 | serving his country, state, and community
through his service | ||||||
| 9 | in the United States Air Force, the Illinois State Police, and | ||||||
| 10 | the Galesburg Police
Department; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Jon A. Sibley faithfully supported his community | ||||||
| 12 | as the pastor at Full Gospel Church; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Jon A. Sibley provided leadership to his community | ||||||
| 14 | though his involvement in numerous organizations, including | ||||||
| 15 | the Carl Sandburg College Board of Trustees, the Streaks Dads
| ||||||
| 16 | Mentoring Program at Galesburg High School, the Galesburg Fire | ||||||
| 17 | and Police Commission, the Galesburg
Chapter of the NAACP, the | ||||||
| 18 | Knox County YMCA Board, the Knox County Teen Court Board, and | ||||||
| 19 | the Knox
County Drug Court Board; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Jon A. Sibley was awarded the Galesburg Chamber of | ||||||

| 1 | Commerce Thomas B. Herring
Community Service Award; therefore, | ||||||
| 2 | be it
| ||||||
| 3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 4 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE | ||||||
| 5 | CONCURRING HEREIN, that the East Main Street underpass of the | ||||||
| 6 | Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks in Galesburg is | ||||||
| 7 | designated as the "Reverend Jon A. Sibley Sr. Underpass"; and | ||||||
| 8 | be it further
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation | ||||||
| 10 | is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with
| ||||||
| 11 | State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs
| ||||||
| 12 | giving notice of the name of the "Reverend Jon A. Sibley Sr. | ||||||
| 13 | Underpass"; and
be it further

| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copies of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to the family of Jon A. Sibley Sr., the Mayor of | ||||||
| 16 | Galesburg, and the Secretary of Transportation.
