2 | WHEREAS, House Resolution 38, currently before the 115th | ||||||
3 | United States Congress, would create national reciprocity for | ||||||
4 | concealed-carry licenses, requiring every state to accept the | ||||||
5 | permits of the other 49, regardless of differences in standards | ||||||
6 | for who is eligible to bring a concealed gun into public areas; | ||||||
7 | and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Licenses to carry concealed guns are issued by | ||||||
9 | state and local authorities, who also decide which outside | ||||||
10 | licenses that they will accept; this creates a confusing | ||||||
11 | patchwork that often makes accidental criminals of gun owners | ||||||
12 | who travel with their weapons, but do not know the local laws; | ||||||
13 | and

14 | WHEREAS, The passage of H.R. 38 would simplify these laws | ||||||
15 | and expand the places that a law-abiding gun owner could safely | ||||||
16 | carry their weapon in the event that they needed to defend | ||||||
17 | themselves; therefore, be it

18 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
19 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE SENATE | ||||||
20 | CONCURRING HEREIN, that we urge the 115th United States | ||||||
21 | Congress to pass House Resolution 38 to create national | ||||||
22 | reciprocity for concealed-carry licenses to simplify the laws |

1 | and allow law-abiding gun owners to safely carry their weapons | ||||||
2 | in the event that they needed to defend themselves; and be it | ||||||
