5 ILCS 490/6.5 new

Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Designates the month of August of each year as Moorish American Awareness Month to be observed throughout the State as a month to recognize the valuable contributions of Moorish Americans to this State and to the various aspects of American society. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5adding Section 6.5 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 490/6.5 new)
7 Sec. 6.5. Moorish-American Awareness Month. The month of
8August of each year is designated as Moorish-American
9Awareness Month to be observed throughout the State as a month
10to recognize the valuable contributions of Moorish Americans
11to this State and to the various aspects of American society.
12 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
13becoming law.
