Bill Title: Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. In the definition for "Category A offense" for purposes of bail adds non-probationable offenses; offenses in which 75% or more of a sentence of imprisonment must be served under the truth-in-sentencing provisions of the Unified Code of Corrections; and the offenses of unlawful use of weapons, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, violation of bail bond, a Class 3 felony violation of a non-eligible or revoked Firearm Owner's Identification Card, and a Class 3 felony violation of escape or failure to report to a penal institution or to report for periodic imprisonment. Effective immediately.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
725 ILCS 5/102-7.1

Amends the Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963. 1 AN ACT concerning criminal law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Code of Criminal Procedure of 1963 is
5amended by changing Section 102-7.1 as follows:
6 (725 ILCS 5/102-7.1)
7 Sec. 102-7.1. "Category A offense". "Category A offense"
8means a Class 1 felony, Class 2 felony, Class X felony, first
9degree murder, a violation of an offense in paragraph (2),
10(2.3), (2.4), (2.5), or (2.6) of subsection (a) of Section
113-6-3 of the Unified Code of Corrections, a violation of an
12offense in paragraph (2) of subsection (c) of Section 5-5-3 of
13the Unified Code of Corrections, a Class 3 felony violation of
14paragraph (1) of subsection (a) of Section 2 of the Firearm
15Owners Identification Card Act, a violation of Section 11-204
16of the Illinois Vehicle Code, a second or subsequent violation
17of Section 11-501 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, a violation of
18subsection (d) of Section 11-501 of the Illinois Vehicle Code,
19a violation of Section 11-401 of the Illinois Vehicle Code if
20the accident results in injury and the person failed to report
21the accident within 30 minutes, a violation of Section 9-3,
229-3.4, 10-3, 10-3.1, 10-5, 11-6, 11-9.2, 11-20.1, 11-23.5,
2311-25, 12-2, 12-3, 12-3.05, 12-3.2, 12-3.4, 12-4.4a, 12-5,

112-6, 12-7.1, 12-7.3, 12-7.4, 12-7.5, 12C-5, 24-1, 24-1.5,
224-1.6, 24-3, 25-1, 26.5-2, 32-10, or 48-1 of the Criminal Code
3of 2012, a second or subsequent violation of 12-3.2 or 12-3.4
4of the Criminal Code of 2012, a violation of paragraph (5) or
5(6) of subsection (b) of Section 10-9 of the Criminal Code of
62012, a violation of subsection (b) or (c) or paragraph (1) or
7(2) of subsection (a) of Section 11-1.50 of the Criminal Code
8of 2012, a violation of Section 12-7 of the Criminal Code of
92012 if the defendant inflicts bodily harm on the victim to
10obtain a confession, statement, or information, a violation of
11Section 12-7.5 of the Criminal Code of 2012 if the action
12results in bodily harm, a violation of paragraph (3) of
13subsection (b) of Section 17-2 of the Criminal Code of 2012, a
14violation of subdivision (a)(7)(ii) of Section 24-1 of the
15Criminal Code of 2012, a violation of paragraph (6) of
16subsection (a) of Section 24-1 of the Criminal Code of 2012, a
17violation of subsection (a) of Section 31-6 of the Criminal
18Code of 2012, or a violation of Section 10 of the Sex Offender
19Registration Act.
