2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

5 | | Code is amended by changing Section 1-5 as follows:

The practice of funeral |
9 | | directing and
embalming in the State of Illinois is declared to |
10 | | be a practice affecting the
public health, safety and welfare |
11 | | and subject to regulation and control in the
public interest. |
12 | | It is further declared to be a matter of public interest and
|
13 | | concern that the preparation, care and final disposition of a |
14 | | deceased human body
be attended with appropriate observance and |
15 | | understanding, having due regard
and respect for the reverent |
16 | | care of the human body and for those bereaved and
the overall |
17 | | spiritual dignity of every person. It is further a matter of |
18 | | public interest
that the practice of funeral directing and |
19 | | embalming as defined in this Code
merit and receive the |
20 | | confidence of the public and that only qualified persons
be |
21 | | authorized to practice funeral directing and embalming in the |
22 | | State of
Illinois. This Code shall be liberally construed to |
23 | | best carry out these
subjects and purposes. |
