Bill Title: Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Provides that May 19 of each year is designated as "First Responder Mental Health Awareness Day", to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor firefighters, police officers, and other first responders who have lost their lives due to and suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other mental health issues.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
5 ILCS 490/148 new

Amends the State Commemorative Dates Act. Provides that May 19 of each year is designated as First Responder Mental Health Awareness Day, to be observed throughout the State as a day to honor firefighters, police officers, and other first responders who have lost their lives due to and suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and other mental health issues.

2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by
5adding Section 148 as follows:
6 (5 ILCS 490/148 new)
7 Sec. 148. First Responder Mental Health Awareness Day. May
