Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act. Provides that no legislator shall receive any income derived from his or her ownership of any gaming-related interest, or otherwise receive compensation for services provided to or on behalf of any gaming-related interest. Requires any legislator holding ownership in a gaming-related interest from which he or she may derive income to divest himself or herself of that interest.

1 | AN ACT concerning government.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act is amended | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | by adding Section 2-105 as follows:

6 | (5 ILCS 420/2-105 new) | |||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 2-105. Gaming-related income prohibited. | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | (a) No legislator shall receive any income derived from his | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | or her ownership of any gaming-related interest, or otherwise | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | receive compensation for services provided to or on behalf of | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | any gaming-related interest. | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | (b) Any legislator holding ownership in a gaming-related | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | interest from which he or she may derive income as of the | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | effective date of this amendatory Act of the 101st General | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | Assembly shall divest himself or herself of that interest as | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | soon as practicable after the effective date of this amendatory | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | Act of the 101st General Assembly.
