Amends the School Code. Provides that the school board of a school district that maintains grades 9 through 12 shall offer home economics as an elective high school course not required for graduation.

1 AN ACT concerning schools.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
527-22.2 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/27-22.2) (from Ch. 122, par. 27-22.2)
7 Sec. 27-22.2. High school electives Vocational education
8elective.
9 (a) Whenever the school board of any school district which
10maintains grades 9 through 12 establishes a list of courses
11from which secondary school students each must elect at least
12one course, to be completed along with other course
13requirements as a pre-requisite to receiving a high school
14diploma, that school board must include on the list of such
15elective courses at least one course in vocational education.
16 (b) The school board of a school district that maintains
17grades 9 through 12 shall offer home economics as an elective
18high school course not required for graduation.
