Bill Title: Amends the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that beginning on the effective date of the amendatory Act, the minimum age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity or pension under any Article of the Code shall be increased by one year and, beginning 5 years after the effective date of the amendatory Act, the minimum age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity or pension under any Article of the Code shall be increased by one additional year. Effective immediately.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
40 ILCS 5/1-155 new

Amends the General Provisions Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that beginning on the effective date of the amendatory Act, the minimum age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity or pension under any Article of the Code shall be increased by one year and, beginning 5 years after the effective date of the amendatory Act, the minimum age at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity or pension under any Article of the Code shall be increased by one additional year. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding
5Section 1-155 as follows:
6 (40 ILCS 5/1-155 new)
7 Sec. 1-155. Retirement age; increase. Notwithstanding any
8other provision of law, beginning on the effective date of this
9amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly, the minimum age
10at which a person is eligible to receive a retirement annuity
11or pension under any Article of this Code shall be increased by
12one year and, beginning 5 years after the effective date of
13this amendatory Act of the 101st General Assembly, shall be
14increased by one additional year.
15 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16becoming law.
