1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Sections
510-20.60 and 34-18.53 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/10-20.60 new)
7 Sec. 10-20.60. Trauma response protocol.
8 (a) School districts shall, by the 2018-2019 school year,
9develop and adopt a trauma response protocol to establish how
10the school district responds to traumatic incidents. The trauma
11response protocol shall include a long-term response to a
12traumatic incident, long-term care and counseling, and
13community engagement.
14 (b) School districts may partner with local community
15providers of these services in establishing and implementing
16the trauma response protocol.

19 (a) The board shall, by the 2018-2019 school year, develop
20and adopt a trauma response protocol to establish how the
