Amends the Wildlife Code. Provides that any person may use a crossbow to take coyotes during any coyote season. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning wildlife.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Wildlife Code is amended by changing Section
52.5 as follows:
6 (520 ILCS 5/2.5)
7 Sec. 2.5. Crossbow conditions.
8 (a) A person may use a crossbow if one or more of the
9following conditions are met:
10 (1) the user is a person age 62 and older;
11 (2) the user is a handicapped person to whom the
12 Director has issued a permit to use a crossbow, as provided
13 by administrative rule; or
14 (3) the date of using the crossbow is during the period
15 of the second Monday following the Thanksgiving holiday
16 through the last day of the archery deer hunting season
17 (both inclusive) set annually by the Director.
18 (b) As used in this Section, "handicapped person" means a
19person who has a physical impairment due to injury or disease,
20congenital or acquired, which renders the person them so
21severely disabled as to be unable to use a longbow, recurve
22bow, or compound bow. Permits must be issued only after the
23receipt of a physician's statement confirming the applicant is

1handicapped as defined above.
2 (c) Any person may use a crossbow to take coyotes during
3any coyote season.
