1 AN ACT concerning State Government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act is
5amended by changing Section 2 as follows:
6 (20 ILCS 3930/2) (from Ch. 38, par. 210-2)
7 Sec. 2. Purpose of Act. The The purpose of this Act is to
8coordinate the use of information in the criminal justice
9system; to promulgate effective criminal justice information
10policy; to encourage the improvement of criminal justice agency
11procedures and practices with respect to information; to
12provide new information technologies; to permit the evaluation
13of information practices and programs; to stimulate research
14and development of new methods and uses of criminal justice
15information for the improvement of the criminal justice system
16and the reduction of crime; to protect the integrity of
17criminal history record information, while protecting the
18citizen's right to privacy; and to coordinate statewide
19violence prevention efforts and develop a statewide plan that
20includes public health and public safety approaches to violence
21prevention in families, communities, and schools.
