Bill Title: Amends the Park District Code. Provides that a park district may enter into a lease, contract, or other agreement related to the acquisition of solar energy, including the installation, maintenance, and service of solar panels, equipment, or similar technology related to solar energy, for a period not to exceed 2.5 times the term of years provided for in other provisions authorizing a lease for equipment and machinery (currently, up to 8 years) when authorized by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the governing board of the park district. Effective immediately.

| 1 | AN ACT concerning local government.

| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Park District Code is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Section 8-13a as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (70 ILCS 1205/8-13a new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 8-13a. Agreements related to solar energy. | ||||||
| 8 | Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code, a park | ||||||
| 9 | district may enter into a lease, contract, or other agreement | ||||||
| 10 | related to the acquisition of solar energy, including the | ||||||
| 11 | installation, maintenance, and service of solar panels, | ||||||
| 12 | equipment, or similar technology related to solar energy, for | ||||||
| 13 | a period not to exceed 2.5 times the term of years provided for | ||||||
| 14 | in Section 8-13 when authorized by the affirmative vote of | ||||||
| 15 | two-thirds of the governing board of the park district.

| 16 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
| 17 | becoming law.
