Bill Title: Amends the State Police Act. Provides that the Department of State Police shall pay directly or reimburse, up to a maximum of $20,000 (rather than $10,000) the burial expenses of each State police officer who is killed in the line of duty after June 30, 2018. Amends the Line of Duty Compensation Act. Provides that a burial benefit of up to a maximum of $20,000 (rather than $10,000) shall be payable to the surviving spouse or estate of a law enforcement officer or fireman who is killed in the line of duty after June 30, 2018.

AN ACT concerning State government.
| ||||
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||
represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||
Section 5. The State Police Act is amended by changing | ||||
Section 12.2 as follows:
| ||||

| ||||
Sec. 12.2.
Burial benefit for State police officers killed | ||||
in the line of
duty.
| ||||
(a) The Department of State Police shall pay directly or | ||||
reimburse, up to a
maximum of $20,000 $10,000 , the burial | ||||
expenses of each State police officer who is
killed in the line | ||||
of duty after June 30, 2018 1997 .
| ||||
(b) The payments provided for in this Section shall be paid | ||||
out of moneys
appropriated to the Department for the personal | ||||
services of State police
officers.
| ||||
(c) The Department of State Police shall adopt rules | ||||
governing the
administration of this Section.

Section 10. The Line of Duty Compensation Act is amended by | ||||
changing Section 3.5 as follows:
