2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | | Section 5. The Physician Assistant Practice Act of 1987 is |
5 | | amended by changing Section 5.5 as follows:
|

7 | | (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2028) |
8 | | Sec. 5.5. Billing. A physician assistant shall not be |
9 | | allowed to personally bill patients or in any way charge for |
10 | | services. The The employer of a physician assistant may charge |
11 | | for services rendered by the physician assistant. All claims |
12 | | for services rendered by the physician assistant shall be |
13 | | submitted using the physician assistant's national provider |
14 | | identification number as the rendering provider whenever |
15 | | appropriate. Payment for services rendered by a physician |
16 | | assistant shall be made to his or her employer if the payor |
17 | | would have made payment had the services been provided by a |
18 | | physician licensed to provide medicine in all of its branches.
