Amends the Township Special Service Areas Article of the Township Code. Removes a provision in the definition of "township special service area" limiting special service areas to a township in a county with a population of more than 3,000,000. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing
5Section 207-5 as follows:
6 (60 ILCS 1/207-5)
7 Sec. 207-5. Definitions. In this Article:
8 "Township special service area" means a contiguous area
9within a township in a county with a population of more than
103,000,000 in which special services are provided in addition
11to those services provided generally throughout the township.
12Territory is considered contiguous even though one or more
13completely surrounded portions of the territory are excluded
14from the township special service area.
15 "Special services" means the land acquisition,
16development, construction, and maintenance of streets, street
17lighting, sidewalks, sanitary sewer systems, storm sewer
18systems, water systems, alleys, and other necessary adjuncts
19within the township special service area.

21 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
22becoming law.
