| Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |

| represented in the General Assembly:

| Section 5. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act is amended |

| by changing
Section 1-104 as follows:

| (5 ILCS 420/1-104) (from Ch. 127, par. 601-104)

| Sec. 1-104. "Compensation" means any
any money, thing of
|
| 8 |
| value, or economic
benefit conferred on, or received by, any |
| 9 |
| person in return for services
rendered, or to be rendered, by |

| himself or another.
