Bill Title: Amends the Public Utilities Act. Requires the Illinois Commerce Commission to conduct at least one workshop and issue a report concerning how the State can continue to encourage electric utilities in their efforts regarding the evaluation of emerging technologies, products, and services associated with the provision of electric service to provide their customers with reliable, efficient, and safe electric service. Provides for repeal of the provisions on January 1, 2021. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning regulation.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding
5Section 9-228 as follows:
6 (220 ILCS 5/9-228 new)
7 Sec. 9-228. Electric utility emerging technology study. No
8later than June 30, 2020, the Commission shall conduct at least
9one workshop and issue a report concerning how the State can
10continue to encourage electric utilities in their efforts
11regarding the evaluation of emerging technologies, products,
12and services associated with the provision of electric service
13to provide their customers with reliable, efficient, and safe
14electric service.
15 This Section is repealed on January 1, 2021.
16 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
17becoming law.
