SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
Amends the Humane Care for Animals Act. Provides that no person may
knowingly allow an animal to ingest cannabis, including second-hand smoke,
or cannabis-infused products in a way that results in the animal's
sickness or death. Provides that a first violation is a Class A
misdemeanor, and a second or subsequent violation is a Class 4 felony.

AN ACT concerning local government.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
The Humane Care for Animals Act is amended by
adding Section 6.5 as follows:
(510 ILCS 70/6.5 new)
Animal ingestion of cannabis or cannabis-infused
(a) As used in this Section, "cannabis" and
"cannabis-infused product" have the meanings given to those
terms in the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act.
(b) No person may knowingly allow an animal to ingest
cannabis, including second-hand smoke, or cannabis-infused
products in a way that results in the animal's sickness or
(c) A person convicted of violating this Section is guilty
of a Class A misdemeanor. A second or subsequent violation is a
Class 4 felony.
