| 1 | AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 1651

| 2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 1651 by replacing | ||||||
| 3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | "Section 5. The Nurse Practice Act is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Section 60-45 as follows:
| ||||||
| 6 | (225 ILCS 65/60-45 new) | ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 60-45. State agency registered nurse hiring; | ||||||
| 8 | accreditation. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the | ||||||
| 9 | contrary, when hiring a registered nurse, no State agency | ||||||
| 10 | shall take into consideration the accreditation status of the | ||||||
| 11 | nursing school or program of the applicant if he or she | ||||||
| 12 | graduated from a nursing program at a State-funded public | ||||||
| 13 | college or university in Illinois and is licensed as a | ||||||
| 14 | registered nurse by the Department under this Act.".
