1 | AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 608
| ||||||
2 | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 608 by replacing | ||||||
3 | everything after the enacting clause with the following:
| ||||||
4 | "Section 1. Legislative intent. It is hereby declared as | ||||||
5 | the intent of this amendatory Act of the 100th General Assembly | ||||||
6 | to promote consolidation of redundant layers of government and | ||||||
7 | to promote government efficiency.
| ||||||
8 | Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended by changing | ||||||
9 | Section 6-130 as follows:
| ||||||
10 | (605 ILCS 5/6-130) (from Ch. 121, par. 6-130)
| ||||||
11 | Sec. 6-130. Notwithstanding any other provision of this | ||||||
12 | Code Act to the contrary,
no
township road district may | ||||||
13 | continue in existence if the roads forming a
part of the | ||||||
14 | district do not exceed a total of 4 centerline miles in length. | ||||||
15 | For purposes of this Section, the roads forming a part of a |

| |||||||
1 | township road district include those roads maintained by the | ||||||
2 | district, regardless of whether or not those roads are owned by | ||||||
3 | the township. On the
first Tuesday in April of 1975, or of any | ||||||
4 | subsequent year next succeeding
the reduction of a township | ||||||
5 | road system to a total mileage of 4 centerline miles or
less, | ||||||
6 | each such township road district shall, by operation of law, be
| ||||||
7 | abolished. The roads comprising that district at that time | ||||||
8 | shall thereafter
be administered by the township board of | ||||||
9 | trustees by contracting with the
county, a municipality or a | ||||||
10 | private contractor. The township board of trustees
shall assume | ||||||
11 | all taxing authority of a township road district abolished | ||||||
12 | under
this Section.
