                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO.    
          BY  BOWMAN, BOLKCOM, DVORSKY, KRAAYENBRINK, ZAUN,
          HORN, BOULTON, KINNEY, BROWN, BREITBACH, WHITVER,
           SCHNEIDER, HOGG, DANIELSON, ALLEN, and DOTZLER
  1  1 A Resolution recognizing and congratulating University
  1  2    of Iowa Hawkeye wrestler Spencer Lee on his
  1  3    outstanding achievements in college wrestling.
  1  4    WHEREAS, Spencer Lee won the 2018 National
  1  5 Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) wrestling
  1  6 championship in the 125=pound weight class as a true
  1  7 freshman; and
  1  8    WHEREAS, Mr. Lee is the 55th Hawkeye wrestler in
  1  9 program history to win an NCAA title and the first true
  1 10 freshman from the University of Iowa to win an NCAA
  1 11 title in 25 years; and
  1 12    WHEREAS, Mr. Lee entered the NCAA tournament as the
  1 13 number three seed, won five matches, and outscored his
  1 14 opponents 60=4 to win the NCAA title; and
  1 15    WHEREAS, Mr. Lee was awarded the 2018 Hammer Award,
  1 16 which is presented to the champion of the toughest
  1 17 bracket in the NCAA Championship; and
  1 18    WHEREAS, Mr. Lee joined the University of Iowa
  1 19 Varsity Wrestling Team on January 5, 2018, established
  1 20 a 22=2 overall record and a 6=0 record in the Big Ten,
  1 21 and was awarded the 2018 Big Ten Freshman of the Year
  1 22 Award; NOW THEREFORE,
  1 23    BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE, That the Senate
  1 24 recognizes and congratulates Spencer Lee on his
  1 25 outstanding achievement during his freshman year as a
  1 26 college wrestler at the University of Iowa; and
  2  1 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That, upon adoption, the
  2  2 Secretary of the Senate shall prepare an official copy
  2  3 of this Resolution for presentation to Spencer Lee.
